5 Tips for taking better brand images | Branding | Tips | 3E Personal Branding Photography | 3E Photography

5 tips for taking better brand images

As a small business owner and entrepreneur you know that the pictures you show can really make a huge difference in how your business is perceived.

You may not be at a place financially to invest in professional images right now, but you still need pictures right?

Here are 5 tips for taking better images;

1- Use props and locations that relate to your brand.

For example If you want to portray a serine brand, choose a location with color that says peaceful when you are looking at it. You wouldn’t want a bright red backdrop or a busy bold wardrobe for these pictures.

2- Know why you need these photos and how you plan to use them.

Is it for your website and you need to be able to add text in the picture? If so you would want a lot of negative space to be able to write your text. Think about specific places you will use them before you start your shoot.

3- Know your audience. Know who you are speaking to.

If you don’t know who your audience is click here and download my free guide. By knowing who your audience is, you know what you and they have in common and how you can relate to them on a personal level.

4- Know the look and feel you are going for so your pictures look cohesive.

You don’t want to do a shoot and later have a bunch of pictures that look and feel inconstant and poorly put together.

5- Use window light.

The best light comes from windows but if you don’t have a lot of light where you are shooting open a door. Tip: Avoid the really bright light that you see, which creates a harsh line on the floor. If you see that, back up so you are not in it, but facing it.

Here are a few images to show you how I used light for my product shots. In front of a window or used a white foam board to reflect the light from behind.

Good luck on your next shoot. I hope my tips help you take better brand images which represent you and your brand. Follow me on instagram @3ephotographyca and tag me with the images you capture. I’d love to know if these tips helped you!

3 ways to talk about your business without being salesy | Online Tips | 3E Branding Photography | 3E Photography

3 ways to talk about your business without being salesy

If you are an entrepreneur or business owner you have a product or service you might feel like you need to be selling at all times. This is very untrue and can turn your ideal customers away. I have come up with 3 ways to talk about your products or services with out coming off with the intent of selling.

  1. Telling people the benefits of your services. Don’t keep pushing your product with you need this or buy this…. tell them how it can help them, what it does to fix a problem. Tell them the things that happen when using your product.

  2. Tell them your mission. By saying why you love what you do opens up a way to communicate your business without selling to them.

  3. Tell them you're process. By telling them how things work or the things you are doing is such a great way to talk about your business.

I hope these tips help you start thinking of better ways to serve your ideal audience to convert them to customers.

If you want to start showing up in your feed with more images of your process and behind the scenes to start talking to your audience without selling to them, check out the 3E Branding experience. If your ready to book your personal branding session contact me today!

3 Tips for more engagement on any platform | Online Tips | 3E Branding Photography | 3E Photography

3 Tips for more engagement on any platform

If you’re an entrepreneur your business in some form is online. As a business online first impressions matter the most. Let’s be honest you have less than 3 seconds to get someone to engage with your post online. Then once you get someone to follow your business you need to be sure to keep them enteracting with your post to keep you relevant in their mind as well as building trust. Here are 3 tips to keep your audience engaged and interacting with your business.

  1. Ask a question. Seems simple right?! I see this so often and know you are missing a lot of engagement because you are mostly talking about you or your products. You are involving your audience and involving them on your journey. Asking questions makes them feel involved and heard.

  2. Be consistent. Start small! If you know you only have three days to really focus on start there and keep doing it. Once you feel you’ve kept at it and want to move to five days a week, do so. Be sure that however many days you want to show up you keep at it.

  3. Show YOU in your feed. You are not the first person to say but I sell a product, or I sell a service….. Yes but that is what you sell or what you provide but your clients don’t buy just products. They buy from trustworthy and relatable people, someone they feel honored to stand behind and feel good about their purchase. You are the missing link that connects you to your audience to gain more business.

I hope this helps you understand that that your presence online is not about you it is about your audience. Your ideal customers are there waiting to be seen and heard. Just remember to bring them in on the conversation on a consistent basis, and as always I will say it every time….. You need to show up on every platform!

Show your face online! I know it can be awkward but it doesn’t have to be. Let me help you start showing up consistently with visual stories that relate to your band and connects you to your audience to grow your buisness! In one single session the 3E branding experience will have you showing up, standing out and helping you connect with your audience so your business can grow. If your ready to start growing your business contact me today.

5 questions to ask your branding photographer | Branding | 3E Branding | 3E Photography

5 questions to ask your branding photographer

As a personal branding photographer I get a lot of questions regarding your personal branding session. I have come up with 5 questions that you may not have thought but need to be asking your photographer who is taking your next branding images. These questions may have never have crossed your mind but they are the top 5 most important things to ask before your next branding photoshoot.

  1. How do you get to know and understand my brand?

To understand your brand and get you images that are relatable your photographer should be asking you a lot of questions to help understand not only you’re brand, but also you, who you serve, and so much more. You want to be sure the money you spend on images is really helping you relate to your audience and helping them connect with you.

  2. Do I get watermarked images, web sized or full resolution?

As a professional photographer I know that a lot of professional watermark their images. That is fine for a regular portrait session but is not for a branding session. I think this is a big deal when having branding photos taken. Make sure you understand before you book, if you get web sized files, full resolution, or only watermarked images.

  3. Do I receive commercial use licensing on my images?

Commercial use license for photography is very different and something you don’t need doing a portrait session. You are having a branding session, a session to be able to sell you and your product or service. A commercial use license is a must!

  4. How long do I get to obtain that commercial license?

As I said before be sure your photographer provides you with a commercial use license and be sure to ask how long you get that commercial use license. Some photographers cap the use at a few years and some don’t. Be sure you know before you start your session so you don’t have to keep paying a recurring fee to use your own images.

  5. Can I use filters and overlays on my images?

As a business you are using these images to help your business. You need certain images to have text overlays, certain place for text on a header image. Be sure the photographer you go to knows where and how you will be using your images as well as allowing you to use filters and overlays to customize your photos for your unique business. This is something I see a lot of and it can be frustrating to want to do certain things on your website only to be told this is breach of contract.

I want to make sure you know that not all branding photography is the same and know that the money you are investing is going to grow your business and move you forward. I hope these help you ask the right questions before your next branding session.

As a personal branding photographer getting to know you and your business is my biggest goal! I want you to know I am providing my service to help elevate your business and help you grow your business. If you are ready to up level and be the professional in your field, I’d love to chat with you today!

Get back a weeks worth of time | Branding | 3E Personal Branding | 3E Photography

Get back a weeks worth of time!

What would you do with an extra weeks worth of time? Would you spend it working to better your business or be at home with your family? As a personal branding photographer, I know that I can help you get that time back. You might be wondering….. how?

Are you struggling to post on social media, searching through stock images or taking a picture with your phone only to have taken and erased it so many times. Then you have to edit the picture you captured and make sure it looks good on the platform you’re using.

Let’s be honest how long is it taking you…. 20 minutes, maybe 30 minutes or even longer? How many days a week are you doing this? Let’s say your posting five days a week and it takes you 25 minutes a day, that equals 32 hours every three months.

One session with me can change your business! I will create an array of custom created images to pull from at any time. We will capture your process, your tools, lifestyle headshots and so much more! Your session will be custom tailored for your needs.

These images will not only elevate your business, but make it known that you are professional. Save time and speak to your audience while growing your business.

What would you rather do?

  1. Struggle to find “or afford” stock images, or take dozens of phots just to find out the lighting was bad.

    OR…..

  2. In one session with me, have enough content to post for up to three months. Stop wasting precious time and energy that should be spent on more important things.

If you chose 2, then I can’t wait to walk you through the 3E personal branding experience, so you can continue to move forward and grow your business! Contact me today!

What a consistent feed says about your business | Online Tips | 3E Personal Branding Photography | 3E Photography

What a consistent feed says about your business

As a business professional in the modern age times have really changed. Having a business in Paso Robles CA twenty years ago is so different than it is now. This city was less populated and you really had to be going door to door or have great referrals because it was hard to reach people.

Now a days it is the complete opposite! We as business owners are lucky to have technology to reach more people in a shorter amount of time, but there is a catch…. There are more people doing what we are doing online and easy to find in an instant.

Consider social media your first impression to your audience.

If you don’t catch their attention or make a good professional impression they will not hesitate to keep looking. Don’t take it personally but maybe it is your images….. maybe you are not making the best first impression.

When you are consistent on you’re feed you are telling you’re audience that you are a professional. If you start showing things that tell the stories of what you do in a cohesive way this tells your audience that you will deliver. You will begin to build trust from your audience. Who doesn’t want that!

By showing up and being intentional it really helps your audience know you. It helps them know why they like you, it helps them know if they can trust you, and ultimately lead you to more people buying from you.

Now let me ask you a few questions and take a view point from your prospective client.

If I was to go to your feed or your website right now what would I see….

Do you have an old headshot from when you started your business, or better yet a phone picture up in your about me bio? Is your feed an after thought or just posting what you feel like at the moment? Are you posting a lot of stock images to try to get your message across?

If this is you….. Remember what I said you only have a few seconds to make that great first impression and be the professional in your field. Your audience will get to know who you are, why you do what you do and feel like they know what to expect from you. The know, like and trust factor will help you grow your business!

I can help you elevate your business and make it look cohesive, consistent and relatable on any platform. If you are ready to talk or have any questions reach out and contact me today.

Paso Robles Rotary Club | 19th Annual Crab Feed | 3E Photography

On March 10, 2019 I got the pleasure of photographing The Paso Robles Rotary Club Crab Feed for my second year at the beautiful Windfall Farms in Paso Robles, CA. What a great event!

Paso Robles CA Photographer

I walked in and it was definitely a different experience than last year. I arrived early to photograph the setup but to my surprise…….. everyone was already there mingling, drinking, and participating in the silent auction. In my opinion I think everyone just couldn’t wait to come.

The theme was Mardi Gras this year. The silent and live auction did not disappoint! It was packed with great items that were donated by so many business. The wagon of cheer was such a big hit again this year with a spinoff 2nd and 3rd place prizes.

Class Act Dance was there again helping serve at the event and perform. What a wonderful job all the young ladies did! The two performances were different and unique. Such amazing talent. Most of the girls have been dancing and learning the craft for 8 years. WOW, their dedication truly showed in the amazing performances!

If you missed the all you can eat and drink Crab Feed this year, don’t beat yourself up. Head over to the Rotary Club’s website here to see what event they are hosting next and keep a look out for next years annual Crab Feed.

Thank you again Paso Robles Rotary Club for letting me capture your event. The thought and consideration that goes into hosting this and donating proceeds to local students, schools, community programs and more. Thank you for the turnout of gracious people who came, participated in the auctions, and enjoyed themselves….. it wouldn’t happen with out your help! Also a last thank you to all the sponsors who gave such wonderful donated gifts to be auctioned. I love how everyone made this event such a fun experience for a great cause in our community!

What is personal branding photography | 3E PBP | 3E Brand photography

What is personal branding photography….

As a Paso Robles, CA personal branding photographer I get asked this question quite often….. “What is a personal branding photography session?”

It is NOT your typical headshot session…. it is so much more!

Let me explain….

A personal brand shoot is tailored for your business. If you’re an entrepreneur, business owner, relator, MLM or brick and mortar business you need consistent imagery to show what you do to your audience.

People don’t buy from a company unless they know, like and trust you. Think of it as your first impression to potential buyers. That is where a PBP shoot helps you.

I tell the story of YOU. You heard me right, not just the products or service you sell…. YOU. So you can grow your business.

I help you determine your unique stories that relate to your brand and your audience. Your audience will have a better understanding of why you do what you do, through your images.

I capture a wide variety of lifestyle, detail, products and photos of your process. These photos can be used throughout your website, all social media platforms, marketing material, blogs, newsletters, banners and more.

In one single session we can create enough content for three months or more of social media postings. You can focus on growing your business and be present with your family.

I’d love to tell your story, and help you grow your business contact me today.

Houck Family | Family session | 3E Photography

The rain has finally come to San Miguel, CA. We scheduled this family session and a few days before our date arrived we got plenty of rain. We almost canceled but decided to risk the showers. This family did so well and we were lucky and the rain stopped dropping for 15 minutes and we got a few out in the open before we had to seek shelter again.

This family was so fun to work with! Miss L (there daughter) was so adorable! She loved seeing herself on the back of my camera. This family really were troopers with the cold and wet conditions. Even though it did pour only a few short minutes before we started it turned out to be great, puddles and all.

Jennifer and Doug you have the cutest family! I am so happy I got to capture this moment in your life! Those cute little kiddos won’t stop growing and I am so happy I could freeze this time for you. With little G being almost a year old I know you have fun big moments, like walking and talking ahead of you. Thank you for including me in your family’s journey.

Fun as a family | Our adventures | 3E Photography

My family has a few traditions through out the year but this tradition of dirt and dessert seem to be the kids favorite. We play all day and get as dirty as can be. The kids can’t get enough!

My oldest son asked me after we were leaving “was it a dream?” I told him “were still driving home in the RV” it was to cute. They wanted to stay but we told them thats why camping is so special because we get to come back and do it all over again next time.

Time together as a family is so special and much needed for us all! Below are a few of my favorites from our trip.

Pickens Family | Maternity | 3E Photography

It was a nice warm day that we meet up in Paso Robles, Ca. Little G was holing his daddy hand and looking so handsome when they walked up. He kept a serious face through out our session but we captured a few smiles as he snuggled mom and dad. Rocks seemed to be what captured his attention most. Boys will be boys right.

Seeing my best friend’s family growing has been a joy! When she asked me to capture her family of three before they become a family of four was very special to me. I felt so honored to capture this season in there life! I know how special this time is since having kids of my own. Time that seems to go by so fast and leaves your life forever changed.

Amanda, Jared and G thank you so much for allowing me to capture such a important part of your life. Being able to freeze this moment that you can look back on with joy to always remember makes me so happy. The time that we captured will seem far away as your boys grow and will be even more cherished as every day passes. I know G will be a great big brother! I can’t wait to meet your baby boy and watch him grow up.

Ayleen | Senior Session | 3E Photography

On a sunny afternoon we meet at San Simeon California, the sweetest girl who is gorgeous by the way came with her family. It was a perfect day to walk and talk with them and get some great pictures. Ayleen had such a great outlook on life. As we talked about her future and the thing she was most passionate about at the moment, her church. I could tell it was special to her, and what a honor it is to be involved. She was very excited for her next time in the church and knew that was where her heart was.

Ayleen, you are a special girl! You are beautiful both inside and out! I am so excited for your future and where it will take you. I hope your time serving in your church will strengthen you and ground you for the next chapter of life.

Aaron and Lauren | Engagement session | 3E Photography

It was a hot day when we arrived at Rustic Ranch Weddings  in San Miguel, California. As we walked over the bridge it was a beautiful location. It had many beautiful areas to photograph. You could tell that David and Kerry took the time to make this place special for the couples who got married there.

Aaron took Lauren's hand and you could see the smile beam from his face. The laughter and smiles filled the air as we walked in the beautiful grass. These two were in love and I could feel it in the air as we laughed together. These two were so much fun to photograph. They even brought there sweet little daughter along with grandma loving all the snuggles behind the scenes.

Aaron and Lauren I am so happy you found each other! You have made such a wonderful family together already! I am so excited for the many years together as husband and wife.
